Would love it if you could post the .story file so that we can see it.
Are you able to disable the Next button off that slide (using the "Gear" icon at the bottom right to disable it at the slide level) and then set the interaction to jump to Next slide using Triggers on the Correct and Incorrect layers?

No problems!
The elusive Gear Icon has plagued many people at one time or another - allows a few other things to be done as well.
Have a look at the Story View - and then slide level, and you can see how to arrange things at a Macro or Micro level.
