Disable NEXT button until slide is completed
Jul 21, 2015
Dear all,
I have a couple of navigation slides in my project where the learner has to click on 4 tiles which all lead to different slides. After completing those slides the learner gets back to the navigation slide. I disabled the next button on the master slide and I want to make it appear on the navigation slide once the learner has visited all 4 slides linked to the 4 tiles.
This is how I set it up:
MASTER SLIDE:
-hide NEXT button when timeline starts
NAVIGATION SLIDE:
-Toggle variable when state of rect 1 ,2 3, and 4 is visited
-Change state of NEXT button to normal when variable changes
-Resume saved state in slide settings is checked
I have added a .story file of how I set it up. I have read all the threads on this subject and I can't get it to work so any help would be greatly appreciated?
Kind regards,
Nick

Seems the .story file didn't load
Have a look at the attached file and see if that's what you wanted. I changed the trigger to 'enable' the Next button.
Looks like Michael has jumped in to assist you here Nick :) Just let us know if you need anything further.
Hi Michael,
Thank you very much for your assistance! This is exactly how I wanted it to work.
Just out of curiosity, do you know why it wouldn't change the state of the Next button with the trigger "when variable changes"? This seems strange since the "when variable changes" trigger does work to change the state of the NAV NEXT caption.
Thanks again!
Actually, your original trigger for the Next button does work, but it will be 'turned off' immediately again by the trigger on the master when jumping to a slide.
Hi Michael,
I appreciate your responses above. I am fairly new to Articulate and especially variables. I have attached a file where I'm trying to do the same thing where the user needs to click on 3 pictures on a navigation slide, view the associated videos, then watch a couple of follow up slides before the next button on the main navigation slide becomes available.
Currently both the caption box "Click the Next button to continue" and the next button populate as soon as the navigation slide starts. In addition, my visited states "greyed out" pictures are no longer greying out once clicked on.
Any ideas you have would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joel
Hi, Joel -- Thanks for your response, and as some time has passed and Michael may no longer be subscribed to this thread, you are welcome to reach out directly if you wish using the 'Contact Me' link on his profile page.
Hi Joel,
You could add variables for each segment initially set to false, and when clicked on convert them to true and set condition to advance to next with conditions of all 3 variables "true"
I have adjusted your project
Thanks for popping in to assist Ed :)
