Disabled to Normal state
Feb 23, 2016
Hi,
In a menu I want to force the user to start with subject 1 and after visiting subject 1, he will be able to visit subject 2, etc. Therfore I used the function Change State Of. This works very good for some weeks ago. I'm now working on this project again and it doesn't work anymore?????
I made the followin rule: Initial state of Text Box 2 is 'disabled'. (Action) Change state of (On Object) Text Box 2 (To State) Normal (When) User clicks (Object) Text Box 1.
When revisiting this page (when the user finished subject 1), subject 2 should be in a Normal state, so the user will be able to visit subject 2. However subject 2 is not clickable (still in the Disabled state).
I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks, Bob Roos

Hi Bob
are they returning to this slide with the subject buttons? If so change the trigger to when timeline starts on the slide rather than when state changes
Hi Wendy, they are returning to this slide when the finished a chapter. I will try your suggestion. Thnx.
Hi Wendy, the problem is that I want to force the learner to start with subject 1, then subject 2, etcetera. When I use the trigger Timeline Starts, users can choose any chapter.
I found a solution :-) I used the trigger: Change state of Textbox 2 to state normal when state on Textbox 1 is visited
vs
Change state of Textbox 2 tot state normal when user clicks Textbox 1
Thnx Wendy
Hi Bob
glad you got it sorted. There are usually multiple ways to achieve something in SL and it's whatever you are comfortable with.
I tend to use the states to disable objects when the timeline starts and then enable them based on triggers and conditions when the timeline restarts.
Good luck with your project!
