Disabling the next button
Oct 06, 2016
I have followed this tutorial step by step, and cannot get my incomplete warning message to display and my slide won't advance. https://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-disable-the-next-button-until-users-finish-interacting-with-a-slide. I'm under a huge deadline and I can't figure out what I have wrong. I need someone else to review my variables help me figure out what is wrong

Rather than use the variable based triggers (and undefined targets in your triggers), consider using a "Change State Of" trigger targeted at the Next button directly. A trigger at timeline start that sets the Next to Hidden, then a second (different) trigger that sets Next to normal. Your case most likely on media complete. BTW you can shrink the overall timeline length to get access to your Next button on the first slide quite a bit
Just taking a quick look at this the default of slideS2complete is True so it's always going to advance. Set the default of slideS2complete to False and it should work.
Thank you so much for your help! Changing my variable to "False" was a no brainer. A person gets so in tuned with the transitions, triggers, etc., that they forget to check the foundation. Also, I figured out why my warning layer wasn't displaying. I had the trigger on my base layer instead of my incomplete layer. Reducing the timeline was another good tip. Thank you!
