Disappearing Slide
Jul 16, 2014
I'm using multiple layers triggered by hotspots to descride some manufacturing equipment we use. When I preview the slide it works perfectly, but if I preview the entire project I have slides that flash black and go blank. In my Story View I have the set up to be advanced by the user so I don't think it's a timeline issue and I don't see a trigger that would cause this. My Resources are also missing when this happens.I've attached a pic of the screen to see if this is a common issue I'm not aware of.

First, clarifying a bit:
Slide A, previewed on its own, comes up correctly:
All triggers work (except Jump to Slide triggers)
All layers appear when they're supposed to
All visual assets are intact
You preview the project, and you proceed to slide A.
What precisely is different?
Without additional information, the first places I'd look for problems would be:
Greg,
Thanks for responding. I saved my work, went to lunch, and published (CD format) the course when I returned. From all appearences it's working flawlessly. I'm still seeing the issues in preview though and haven't figured it out yet.
Hi Jeff,
The first thing I would do is make sure you have the most recent version of Storyline installed, especially if you're still seeing the "!" notice when previewing:
Please make sure you're running the most recent version of Storyline. Articulate Storyline Update 5 includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and HTML5 output enhancements. Click here for details.
If you're not running Update 5, please try updating then reopen the file. If you're still seeing the exclamation point when previewing, it may be a DPI issue:
Storyline will function as expected when Windows is set to 96 DPI (dots per inch).
Storyline doesn't currently support 120 DPI. If your system is set to 120 DPI, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:
* Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.
* Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.
* Zoomed images don't work as expected.
* Font sizes are incorrect after using the translation features.
Here's how you can switch to 96 DPI
Let us know how it goes!
Best,
Christine
Hi Jeff,
If there are slides "flashing" or "blinking" within Story view I'd want to first check that you're adhering to the guidelines here when working with your .story files:
