Does Articulate compress audio files in a project when it saves the project?

Dec 08, 2014

I've been working on a project for a while and adding new audio on different days.

There seems to be a big difference in audio clarity when I add a new piece of audio, compared to those which are already there.

In the beginning I assumed this would be something to do with the way I was recording audio on different occasions, but I've noticed that it's always the old audio which deteriorates and the new audio which sounds full.

Does Storyline compress audio when it saves a project file, and if so, is there a way of switching this off, or reducing the amount of compression?

Hi Luke,

Storyline will conduct some compression of audio, image and other media files upon publish - but not just when you've saved your project file. You'll want to look into the following tips for managing your project files which could be contributing to some odd behavior. You could try importing the course into a new project as described here.  If the behavior is consistent across a number of Storyline files, you may also want to look at conducting the repair steps detailed here.
