does Storyline expose the SessionID?

So I am following the strategy of some other peeps on gathering data from a SL course without having an available LMS. In that "quest," I am wondering if Storyline someone captures the SessionID (or similar, presumably the value or key that gets set by a cookie) and makes that available (set as a variable) so that I could use that to track individual users progress through a course? Anyone else have a similar challenge (i.e. getting data w/o an LMS but still wanting to correlate that data to a particular user)?
