Dotted vertical line in Audio Editor

May 08, 2019

I'm curious if anyone has run into the same problem. I am trying to edit an audio .wav file that I imported. I have cropped the audio to end where I want, but it has a dotted vertical line with silence after it that I can't crop out. See the image attached. When publishing, this extra space after the dotted line continues to "play". Any ideas on how to delete the portion after it?

Hi Marlit,

As far as I am aware, the dotted line marks the end of the audio track and so there shouldn't be anything playing beyond that point.

One thing to note is that, when audio is added to Storyline, the timeline is adjusted to suit, but when you edit the audio file, the timeline does not re-adjust automatically. If your next slide is set, for example, to appear when the timeline ends on your audio slide, make sure that the end of the timeline is where you actually want it to be. What you may be experiencing is not audio silence, but a difference between the end of your audio timeline and the slide timeline (if necessary, drag the slide timeline back to the end of the audio).

If you want to finish with the audio slide when the audio track ends, you might be better off using Jump to Next Slide when Media Completes.

If your audio track is in the middle of a slide and you are definitely getting audio silence, try re-opening your audio file in the editor (you should find that the dotted line is now back at the right hand end with no additional space after it) and re-saving it.

Hope this helps
