Doubt about customizing the player

Feb 12, 2018

Hi there!

I am wondering if it would be possible to make disappear the scheme (the ‘Unified Dark’ one in the picture attached) surrounding my slide so that I can only see my picture. I have been trying to modify the slide’s size even though I usually work with 855px width and 430px height, but that does not make disappear the scheme.

Concluding, is there any option to do what I am trying?

Thank you for your time!

First of all, thank you very much for your help!

I have been trying what you have recommended me and I am sorry to disturb you again… Well, modifying the transparency of the scheme I have been able to ‘erase’ the scheme. The thing is that I am struggling now with the background (the blue one in the picture attached). I mean, the same is happening again: my image does not fulfil my own ‘scheme’ (sorry, I do not know what is the appropriate word in this case, I mean the black thing surrounding the picture) because it recognizes the image and the background as just one picture.

So, my question is: is it possible to make it disappear? My point is, if I just change the colour my problem is still there (I have already tried) and if I change the size of the picture, the same happens. I would need it to disappear so that the picture I am working with fulfils my ‘scheme’   (the black one, the one I usually work with).

Thank you very much for your attention, again!

Have a nice day,

If I understand correctly, I think this will do what you need.

  1. In the player properties window, click Colors & Effects and then Show advanced color editing.
  2. In the Edit item drop down menu, hover your mouse over Base and then select Main Background. Change the transparency to 100%.
  3. In the Edit item drop down menu, hover your mouse over Base and then select Main Border. Change the transparency to 100%.
  4. In the Edit item drop down menu, hover your mouse over Base and then select Slide Background. Change the transparency to 100%.
  5. Click the Save Button located in the row of buttons next to the color scheme name to name and save your new color scheme. This will let you choose it in future projects without having to make all of these selections each time.

Let me know if this accomplishes what you need.

Good morning,

Firstly, thank you very much again and again!

What you said is what I did in order to make the scheme disappear, and it was perfect. So I thought I had solved the problem. However, when I ‘publish’ (export) it — or just it even if I just preview it— it appears the background and I cannot make it disappear. So, when I try to use what I have published, the image will not adapt to the size I usually work with because of the background.

What I am trying to say is: the size of the picture I eventually export includes the background and, as a consequence, the picture I have been editing is slightly smaller than I need.

I am not sure if I am explaining myself utterly. Let me know if I am not clear enough, please.

Thanks for your help!!

Have a nice day,

Hi Wendy!

Yes, of course. There you go!

What you can see in the picture is:

  • The black frame which I usually work with. I can’t modify anything of it.
  • The blue background which I would like it not to be.
  • The red picture which is the one I have been modifying with the program (Articulate Storyline 3)

So, as you can see, if I can’t make the blue background disappear, my picture (the red one) won’t adjust to my black frame.

I hope that's a bit clearer now, if not, let me know, please!

Thanks for your time!

Hi there Leslie,

Both Owen and Wendy have been so kind and nice trying to help me out! Unfortunately, despite their efforts and patience, I could not achieve what I wanted. To this extent, I was wondering if you please could have a look at the discussion and just let me know if what I am trying to do with the background ―completely erase it― is possible.

Once again, thank you all very much for your time!

Have a nice day,

A few more questions.  How are you loading the background image?  Is this the slide background or are you modifying the html page background?
If it is the html page, you might be seeing a slide background still even though you've set the player to transparent.

Try this in addition to the player changes you have made:

  1. In the slide view where you edit slide content (not the player properties window) RIGHT CLICK on the slide and choose Format Background in the pop up menu.
  2. On the Fill Tab, set the transparency to 100%.

If you don't want to do this for every slide, perform these steps on your slide master.  Publish and see if this resolved the issue.

Hi there Owen,

Thank you very much! What you said it’s been pretty helpful! Most of the time it’ll be enough, so I kind of have sorted out my background’s problem.

Let me clear myself a little bit more, my hosting has a predetermined size (855px width and 430px height) so if I want a slide with different images and videos, what you have recommended is perfect.

The problem is when I want to work with just an image or a video full-sized (filling all the screen, 855px width and 430px height) because it appears the player’s background (or maybe it’s, as you have already said, the html page background) which I cannot make disappear. Consequently, my image or video won’t adjust.

Concluding, since you have said that I will be seeing a slide background still even though I’ve set the player to transparent when it’s the html page, I just should assume that I can’t modify that and I will see my full-screen videos with a frame, right?

Again, thank you very much for your patience and your time!

Have a nice day,

Nerea
