Drag and Drop activity not working on Ipad

Aug 31, 2014

Hi Guys

I am having an issue with Drag and Drop (Custom designed) activity on Ipad.

What i have is a number of drag and drop items and the user needs to drag the words in the correct areas.

How this activity needs to work is that the user has 5 categories and each category has 5 drop targets. Now the user can drag a word and put it in any column of that particularly category. (I am attaching the .story file so this will make sense when you open the file)

Now the tricky part is that i have set the activity that the user can get two attempts to the question and then is prompted to go next to see the right combination.

I have also set up a variable called attempts which increments in value every time the incorrect layer is shown and if attempts reaches greater or equal to 2 the user gets a message stating they have reached the maximum number of attempts.

This whole activity works perfectly fine when i test it on my PC, however when i test this in the iPad this activity does weird stuff.

Even if i get the answer correct in the first go i am always shown the incorrect layer and if i get it wrong it still shows the incorrect layer but it doesnt increase my attempts variable at all. i always get the message that " you have 1 more attempt" regardless how many times i try.

Can someone please help me as to why it wouldnt work in the iPad but work on PC?

The story file is attached for your review..any help or clarification on this would be so helpful..

Thanks

Shahid

Hi Michael

Thanks for your reply, I havent tested it in the mobile player app yet as the course will be launched from moodle and i am not sure if content sits on moodle and is launced via the app will moodle track the course or not?

Also dont think the client is willing to install the app as they have IT restrictions from their end so i might need to change the activity i guess or work out some other solution

The Mobile Player App requires TinCan API for LMS tracking. I may be wrong, but I vaguely remember reading something about the latest version of Moodle now supporting TinCan. I agree, having to install an app is a no-go for many corporate clients.

Yep, it is always tricky for the client to agree on the App, WE have moodle 2.6 installed and not sure how i can get it to support Tin Can

Not sure if you would know but thought might ask anyways, if i publish the course as Tin Can Api do i load it to the moodle as a SCORM course or something different for the App to track it?

Hi

I have the same problem. I've made a course with a drag and drop activity. The user gets two attempts before the correct answer is shown (I've set up a variable for it as well). This Works fine on the desktop version (Chrome and Explore) but when I run the course from an iPad it doesnt Count the number of attempts and it therefore never takes you to the "review" state (where the correct answers are shown).

The course will be launched from an LMS system but unfortunately they are not supporting Tin Can Api in the moment so I guess the Articulate player cant help me either.

Is there anything I can do to make this Work without the player?

Or is it an Articulate "bug" ?

Hope someone can help me clarify this issue:-)
