Drag and Drop - Add Sound Effect for Wrong Drop Target

Dec 02, 2016

I have a Drag and Drop interaction that I created using a freeform drag and drop question. It is a basketball game where the learner is asked to classify content into the correct category by dragging and dropping the basketball into one of the two baskets. I was able to add a sound effect for when the basketball (Drag Item)  is dragged over the correct Drop Target by importing the audio file on the base layer and adding a trigger to play the media when the object is dropped over the correct target.

However, when I add a sound effect for when the basketball is dragged over the incorrect Drop Target, the media file plays, but the basketball does not snap back to the start point. I have the "Return item to start point if dropped outside a correct drop target" option checked in the Drag & Drop Options panel. This is only happening when I try to add a trigger to play the sound effect either by importing the audio file to the base layer and adding a trigger to play the media file when the object is dropped over the incorrect  target or by creating a new layer with the audio file and adding a trigger to show this layer when the object is dropped over the incorrect target.

Is it possible to have a media file play when an object is dropped on the wrong target and have it snap back to the start point? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've attached my story file with the interaction. Thank you!

Thanks for linking that post, Wendy!  Jennifer (and others), to summarize, those triggers not working together is a known issue that has been reported to our QA team. When using a drag and drop interaction with the 'Return to start point when dropped outside the correct drop target' option, triggers cannot be added to the drag item or drop target.  The triggers override the 'Return to start point' option.

I'll be sure to add this discussion to their report, and we'll update you here when we have more information to share!
