I have created a few matching drag and drop questions scatered in the course. I can't get the question to reset when clicking on "try again" I thought the settings would be automatically set since I am using one of the templets vs. free form. I've gone into slide properties and selected "reset to initial state" and the result slide only offers (None). Can't figure this out unless I have to create variable somewhere.

I've created a tutorial (Screenr) that describes how to get Drag and Drops to reset when clicking Try Again.
I'm not sure what you're referring to when you mention the results slide.

The drag and drop questions don't reset automatically, so you'd need to set up a method as Becky shared.
When you're referring to the Results slide, until you insert a Results slide assigned to the questions, you'll see "None" listed:
