Drag and drop items appearing in wrong position

Mar 17, 2014

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, i can't seem to find another thread that includes this issue.

I have created a drag and drop freeform quiz where 21 small shapes appear one by one and are dragged into one of 3 actegories. Everything is working great except the small shapes appear in the wrong place. After 2 days of tinkering, no matter what i do, or what position i put them in, they appear inconsistently with some being half off the slide, some higher and some lower..

Would like to know if anyone else has encountered a similar problem and how they solved it.

Due to company policy, it is not easy for me to attach a .story file and i have no access to dropbox type sites.

Hi Martin and welcome to Heroes!

Sorry to hear about the odd behavior of your drag items, and as Charles mentioned the only time I've seen elements like that move around the screen is if they were rotated or some how shuffled.  If you've checked those things and are still having difficulty I can send you directions on how to share with me directly or as Simon mentioned if you can recreate the issue in a mocked up version of your course we can take a look at that here.

I am having this issue now, with the latest update - and not with an interaction, but simply with shapes in general. I will put it in a particular position on the slide, but it will be in a different position on playback, sometimes even partially off of the screen. I tried removing the animation-in, and it still does it.

Hi there, Kristi. So sorry you're facing this.

We have an open issue in Storyline 360, where shapes are not aligning during preview/the published output. I'll share your experience in our report so we can update you with changes!

In the meantime, we'd love to take a closer look at your setup to see what approaches we can offer. If you're able to share the .story file, please use this private upload link!
