Drag and Drop: Limit a drag item within the drop target?

Nov 20, 2013

Hi guys, quick question.

In Drag and Drop interactions, when a drag item is placed in the correct drop target, is it possible to still drag the item but constraining it within the drop target?

I currently have a slide with a Drag and Drop interaction with the following:

- a variable that displays a number

- different drag items, each with unique values

- a single drop target for all drag items (so when an item is dragged into here, it subtracts from the variable)

- a hidden variable that sets up a condition where dragging an item anywhere within the drop target would not subtract from the variable (which would limit the deduction to the variable to happen only once per drag item)

What I want to do is let the user drag the item around the drop target, but when they try to drag the item out of the drop target, it snaps back to inside the drop target.

Is this possible?

Hi Raphy,

I haven't seen a set up where you could keep the drag item within the drop target, but I hope that there is someone in the community who can assist you here. It may be helpful if you're able to share that slide from your .story file here with us so that we can get a sense of what you're trying to set up.
