Drag and Drop Option for Hotspots

May 18, 2019

Dear all,

I am wondering why I get different menu items for drag and drop options. I have several hotspots as drag and drop targets. Some have the alignment drag and drop options like Tile, Stack Random, Stack Offset, Stack to Center, etc. and some just display "Drag Return" at the same menu place.

How can I define for each Hotspot my drag and drop options?

If Hotspots are not the best drag and drop target, then I ask what are the best target objects to align 2 or 3 draggable objects on that target?

Best wishes to all,

Thorsten

Hi Thorsten,

HotSpots are designed differently in each Storyline version. First, I want to confirm which version you are using to create HotSpots and the drag-and-drop feature with the HotSpots. HotSpots are available in all versions of Storyline, so that will help me offer you the most specific advice. Which Storyline version are you using? (Storyline 1, Storyline 2, Storyline 3, or Storyline 360)

Hi Thorsten,

Thanks for letting me know you're using Storyline 3! I'd look at using a transparent shape vs. a hotspot. Although hotspots can be a drop target, a shape allows you some more flexibility in terms of states, triggers, etc.

If you're stuck on how the drag items are snapping to the target, it would help if you can share a copy of the .story file here with the community! That way we can take a look and offer some ideas specific to your project.
