Add a trigger to each of your drag items that adjusts the text entry variable to a specific value when dragged over the plate (for example if you have a picture of an orange, dragging the orange over the plate will adjust the text entry variable to "Orange")
Edit your text entry interaction to accept any values that are acceptable.
You can even hide the text entry field off screen so the learner doesn't even see that it is happening.
I ended up changing it to a True & False Option with automatic submission when a correct object is placed.
In this particular example there is actually no way to fail but failure hotspots could be easily created and when items are dropped on them set the false option to selected.

Is this a graded question, or can they get it wrong with no penalty?
Yes it is graded. But either option are both right. A wrong answer would be placing the fruit outside the plate.
I believe this will get you what you want:

One correction the triggers should adjust the variable when 'dragged on' not 'dragged over' the plate.
Attached is the file with the text entry versus the drag and drop interaction.
Thanks for the example.
