Drag and Drop quiz resets and gives improper feedback OR doesn't reset and gives correct feedback

Jun 03, 2015

Hi Gurus!

I am using a drag and drop quiz and found that I was getting incorrect feedback when I went to review the slide.

I found an earlier post from Ashely that said to check the "Revisiting slide" option in the Slide Properties which the person had as "Reset to initial state" and the other slides were "Automatically decide". I did this and my drag and drop review worked!

The  problem I am finding now is that I wanted the interaction to reset because the user gets 2 chances to get it right. However, if I change the Slide Properties to "Automatically decide", it stays in the same state as I left it (everything dropped on the objects) but then the review works. OR I can have the interaction reset for the second try, but then the review is incorrect.

Any workarounds with this? Can I have my cake and eat it, too?

Thanks again!

Thank you both, Sagar and Christie,

The naughty file is attached. What is happening:

I want the drag and drop quiz to reset after the first wrong answer (they get 2 tries).

If I go to Slide Properties and choose"Reset to initial state" under the When revisiting tab, it does reset the interaction for the second try. The second try, I get it correct.

BUT THEN when I get to the results slide and choose REVIEW QUIZ then it gives me incorrect feedback.

I can fix this by setting "Automatically decide" in the Slide Properties , but then the characters don't reset for the second attempt.

I want it to reset the characters to their initial state after the first attempt AND get correct feedback.

Maybe I need to submit a support ticket?

Glad to know that it worked for you :)

The Funda is that the 'Green Correct' Strip is added manually, which will visible if the question is answered correctly.

You just need to add "Review" layer from the Question Form view.

Add the graphics and text you want to show in Review Screen with the white background.

Make RED/GREEN - Correct/Incorrect Feedback strip on the layer which will be hidden at start and will change the state according to the final answer given.

Make sure you make the review layer from the question Form view only.

Hi Victoria,

If you're using the slide properties of "reset to initial state" than it's working as expected that when the user revisits it they'll see it as being unanswered on a review and therefore incorrect. You'd need to use the "resume saved state" and that would override the behavior of your try again and reset the drag items to their start behavior - so if Sagar's method works for you I would suggest to continue using that.
