Drag and drop results

Dec 10, 2013

I want to use a drag and drop interaction and would like the learner to see their choices compared to the correct answers.  Any idea how to do this?

Thanks,

Sharrilyn

Hi,

I made a story (including drag and drop), but I had to make some changes in it.  After editing and saving drag and drop the order of the slides had been changed. Would you explain me what causes this problem? I cannot go on with the others, I don't want to work unnecessarily (now I have to change back the order step by step, and I have a lots of them).

Thanks in advance!

Hi Andrea and welcome to Heroes!

You'll want to look at the triggers associated with your slides, as that is what determines the order of slides. The other way would be if you possibly moved the slides around in Story view?

If you haven't done either of those, but your Storyline course is still behaving oddly, you'll want to check the following things which could cause odd behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.

Thank you Ashley for your answer but I'm afraid the problem is not solved yet.

When I use the drag and drop "window" (or pick one, etc) and edit the text, after I klick to the save button and at the same moment I see that the order of the slides (on the screen's left handside) is changing. It means that the slides are rearranged.

I suppose, this happened not because of working on a local drive or a network drive.

Do you have any other suggestion?

Thanks and regards,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Odd behavior can be caused by working on a files that are not on your local drive, and that certainly sounds like odd behavior. If your files are on your local drive I'd suggest conduct a repair of Storyline, and if you're still experiencing odd behavior after that, can you share your .story file with us? You can also share it privately here.

Hi Ashley,

I've just sent my massage to the support, I share it with you:

After editing drag and drop and saving, an unwanted trigger(jump to the next slide) is inserted by the Articulate. I'm working on thelocal drive we excluded the possibility of having errors by using network driveor pendrive. We aren't able to go on with our project, because after editingtexts, at the moment of saving unwanted triggers are inserted by Articulate, this way the order of the slides is rearranged.

Any idea?

Thanks Andrea for sharing the message here and I see your Support case (# 00374137 for my reference) but I don't see a .story file attached to your case. Are you able to send that along so that we can look at the file and try to replicate the trigger behavior? You can reply to the email you received after opening your case and attach your .story file there, or there is a special link associated with your case now and you can upload the file here.

Thanks Andrea. The file you uploaded doesn't match those in the images above, and also doesn't include a drag and drop that looks like previously indicated. I still went through and edited a few questions and wasn't able to have the trigger change to jump to the next slide instead of back to the "menu" slide it looks like your using. I see that Regil is assigned to your case, and you'll likely hear from him shortly - so I'll follow along to see if he sees any other odd behavior.
