Drag and drop slide - information send to a LMS

Jul 20, 2018

Hi,

I created a drag and drop interaction and posted it on an LMS.

I can see in the reports whether the user has correctly answered the drag and drop but I can't see wich area he dropped on which target.

Does a Stroyline module send that kind of information to the LMS ?

Kind regards

Hi there, Jean-Luc. I'm happy to lend a hand!

It sounds like you're looking to track student_response data, which is how the learner answered the question. Storyline can report the data, but it's truly up to your LMS to determine how it's reported back to you. Here's all the information communicated to LMSs by Storyline SCORM and AICC content

Additionally, you could enable LMS debug mode to watch the communication flowing back and forth between your Storyline course and LMS or to give your LMS more information. I hope that helps, and let us know if you need anything else!

Does Articulate Storyline 2 transfer those types of information for all
types of questions ?

I have access to those informations on my LMS if I use a graded question
(e.g. a mutli choice question) but not with a non graded question
(e.g."drag and drop" or likert scale question).).

Thank you in advance

Thanks for your follow-up, Jean-Luc!

Great question! The article above applies to Storyline 2 as well, where Storyline will report how the learner answered on any question type–we didn't list them all since there's so many. ☺️

Let us know if you're able to share the text from the debug window with your LMS team–I have a hunch this data may help. I'm curious to hear their thoughts, and will be standing by!

Hi,

I wondered whether you were able to answer my follow up question in the
mail below.

I know that when using a multiple choice graded question, my articulate
soryline 2 module sends to my LMS the actual answers to the question +
info about whether it is is correct or wrong.

I can't find this information in my LMS with a drag and drop. Does the
storyline module send only correct / wrong info or does it send also
info about what was dropped on what ?

Kind regards

Hey, Jean-Luc. I'd be happy to investigate this further. 🔎

Just in case my latest reply didn't make its way: the student_response data (how the learner answered on any question type, including drag and drop) is reported from Storyline 2 to the LMS as well.

While I don't have insight on how that data looks since it's up to the LMS on how it gets reported back, enabling LMS debug mode to capture the conversation between your Storyline course and LMS would be the next, best step. We'll be here, and let us know if you need a hand with interpreting those logs!

P.S. Looks like you may have replied via email in which your contact information came through. No worries – this Peek video will show you how to edit it.
