Hi Ann!

I don't think you're going to find an under-stacking option, but I'd suggest experimenting with the ones you have. They might work!

I just created a drag & drop where I had similar concerns. I chose to:

  • Make my targets a little bit bigger and my drop items a little bit smaller so they were covering up less of the target.
  • Try the "free" stack option so the user can easily move items a bit and check the item below if they need to.

I actually ended up going with "snap to center", which worked fine after I'd adjusted target and drop item sizes.
