Drag and drop with multiple drop targets using states for feedback

May 17, 2017

I need to create a drag and drop interaction with multiple correct drop targets  that will give immediate feedback through the correct/incorrect drop state.

It doesn't look like I'm able to change the drop target state (best case scenario), so I have grouped the icon and it's name with a rectangle that should change states if the drop is correct.

But it's not working correctly.  Could anyone help me with:

1--Is it even possible to have multiple correct drop targets as shown below?

2--How do I get the correct/incorrect drop state to work correctly?

Here's a video of what happens when I drag and drop App to the first rectangle.

Here's a sample of multiple correct drop zones. The box Yes1 changes states when dropped on a correct target. Note that in this case all targets are correct, but that can be changed with the trigger conditions.

Groups and states do not play nicely together. I get away with it in the example because the object is a shape with text on it, not a grouped object and textbox.

to use names and icons like your graphic shows, create a text box for the name, then edit the state and paste the icon as part of the state.
