I am doing a drag and drop interaction that includes an image and text box (the text box is 'on top' of the image and includes required information for the user to be able to know where to drag). When the user does the interaction, the items separate from each other (either image can be dragged; text can be dragged, but not both). Any ideas on how to keep the image an text connected?

You could group the image and the text top (select both, right click, click 'Group') and make that the grouped object draggable in your interaction...
