Draggable Text Entry Box

Nov 02, 2015

Hi everyone

Hoping you can help out a newbee here.  I need to create a drag and drop learning object where students type in a word then drag it to an appropriate spot on a grid.  They need to repeat this process 10 times. The students will take a screen capture to submit to the teacher so nothing needs to be done with the words other than they need to be drag and drop able.

Do I create 10 layers?  One for each text entry box?  I can make the first one draggable, but how do I keep it visible on the grid for the other 9?

Thanks so much.....  Alison

Hi, Alison -- Thanks for your question, and welcome to the community!

I may not be totally clear on what you have in mind, but have you had an opportunity to review this information on Drag-and-Drop Questions? Perhaps you can share your file or a few more details so we have a better idea of what you would like to accomplish.

Simply click on the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box, and browse for your file from there. :)

Create a drop and drag slide with 10 Data Entry fields on the base layer. Click on Form View and you can set all of them to be drag objects.

If you really want to show off, you can put the question in a text box, with theTextEntry box next to it. When the user drops the first box on a drop location, the next question and TextEntry box can be made visible.

Right click text box

Choose Format shape

Choose text box

Deselect Wrap text in shape.

I should warn you, when you click on the text box to type, it shrinks down to the width of the cursor, which might be a bit disconcerting. Maybe a better method is to make the box's original size about 30 X 30 px. Leave the wrap selected (along with resize shape to fit text). That way it will grow, but you won't have the sudden shrink.

Try it both ways and see what you like.
