Drop down menu buttons aligning to base layer (scrolling panel)
Mar 03, 2014
Hello there,
Hoping you can help me with a small quandary...
I have (successfully) created drop down menus for my course, but I've run into a problem. One base layer slide contains quite a bit of information and is, essentially, a large scrolling panel. In this panel are several drop down menus. However, should a learner scroll down the scrolling panel and then select the drop down, the selected drop down's layer does not match up to the icon on the base layer (it just floats on its lonesome, looking rather poorly).
I was just wondering if you, the heroes of the Storyline forums, have any ideas for me.
Many thanks in advance,
Wahty

Hi Wahty,
It sounds like you've created some custom drop down menus for your course? It may be helpful if your able to share that slide here so that the community can take a look at how you've set it up and what you're seeing when testing it.
I've got the same problem. The layers with the drop down menus dont interact with my scrolling panel on thebase layer.
Have you got any idea how to fix it? Thanx a lot.
Hello Darya,
Wow, this was a while ago, I almost forgot all about it.
What I ended up doing is playing with the slide dimensions itself, increasing them to 1600x1600 so a scrolling panel was not needed. Essentially, the Story dimensions went outside the browser window, so the learner was still required to scroll down within the browser, but not within a scrolling panel from Storyline.
This sounds a little confusing, I've included an example in a Storyline 2 file for your review. Let me know if you have any questions.
Good luck!
