Drop Down Menu in Lightboxes

Hey team,

 

I've encountered a rather peculiar bug here and was wondering if anyone else has come across it; essentially when trying to put in a drop down menu in a lightbox, the options are displayed in the correct location, but on the main slide from which the student has lightboxed from, effectively making it impossible to select (aside from tabbing through it manually with your keyboard).

 

My solution is to make it a text entry. But if anyone else has found a workaround for this, please let me know!

Hi Joshua, thanks for reaching out! I'd like to try and recreate your setup in a new Storyline file. Can you help me with a few details?

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • When you say "drop-down menu," is this a custom menu you created? Did you use a Sequence Drop-Down or a Matching Drop-Down to create this slide?
  • Is this drop-down menu on a layer?

Hi Joshua,

Thanks for that image, but all looks normal to me there - and perhaps it's cause I can't see your base slide. If you wanted to share the .story file that would really help us take a look at what you're seeing with elements showing through your lightbox slide. 

You can upload it using the Add Attachment button at the bottom of the reply window.

The fourth question is in its 'selected state', which is also seemingly hidden, but done to demonstrate my issue where the drop down options are (which you can see are behind the lightbox as shown below the page number '4/4').

I can't upload the project for confidentiality reasons. Sorry!

Ah, yes! Now I'm seeing it, Joshua! Your screenshot really helped. Have a look at this screen recording--does it match what you're seeing on your end?

This is a bug in the HTML5 output of Storyline 360. Flash should work correctly, so you can use that as a workaround until we get this bug sorted out.

I really appreciate you bearing with us on this, and I'll let you know as soon as the fix is released. 😊
