Drop n Drag Stuck in a Loop
Oct 03, 2012
I've created a drag n drop quiz question that give students two tries for the correct answer. I think I figured out how to get the interaction to reset for the "try again" but the second incorrect try doesn't bring up the "incorrect" response and take the student to the next question. Instead, "try again" keeps coming up unless I get the question correct. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I've attached the question in Storyline so hopefully someone can show me what I've done wrong. Thanks!

Phyllis, it appears to have something to do with the branching item on the Try Again Option. If you remove this (select the more button and then switch it from unassigned to none) and replay, it seems to work fine. I'd have to think it through as to why it's acting like this...but that seems to be the reason.

Mike, thanks so much for taking a look. When I removed the branch on "Try Again", the interaction didn't reset with all the modules in the left box for the second attempt. Although, when I clicked again the "Incorrect" response did appear. Why wouldn't the modules reset after I clicked "Try Again"?
Hi Phyllis,
I was intrigued by your question so I've been playing around with it. I created two different drag and drops: one is a standard "Matching Drag and Drop" from the Graded quizzes, and one is a drag/drop created with shapes, like yours, which I created using the Insert Freeform option
I think you were expecting what I was, which is that when you try again the dragged items will go back to their initial states. Not. In both cases, the Learner CAN try again, but s/he simply needs to rearrange - or redrag - the answers.
I've attached a really rough, quickly created story so you can see what I mean.
Thanks for the question. I learn a lot in this community, that's for sure!
Rebecca, Thank you for taking the time to create these interactions! You're right, I can just add a prompt to the "try again" response for the students to rearrange the modules.
Cool! Glad it helped
