Hi, Cindy: A rough way to do this is to create a "dropped down" state. I've attached a crude version, where object drops a bit when you click on it. Of course, you could always build some slick motion path animation in PowerPoint, export the slide as a movie, and then import into Storyline.
I assume you are working in Storyline, but if perchance you are working in Studio, I'd achieve this effect through a motion path animation.
Daniel...hadn't thought of using a state in that way. Very cool! Another good idea from the community.
Cindy, I answered a question in this thread about moving objects on a screen and posted a story there that I'm re-posting here. This character pops up instead of dropping down, but, as you say, "only so far." Copying and pasting what I'd said on that thread here:
Are you aware that you can create the animation in PowerPoint, using the motion paths there, and then save as a video and insert into Storyline?
Otherwise, you can do a bit of animating by masking areas of the slide with shapes. In this VERY basic example I have a character flying into a frame in the center of the slide from the bottom of the slide. But she appears to simply be flying in from the bottom of the frame. I placed a rectangle that is the same color as the background, and with no lines, in a position so that you can't see her coming up from the bottom.
My explanation isn't very clear...but hopefully the slide will be! This of course isn't a motion path, but you could probably create a one with proper planning.

Hi Cindy:
Can you elaborate on this?
Is this due to a user doing something, or an animation, or a drop down menu?
Best Regards,
Dennis Hall

Shout out with any questions, OK?
