once you have the information are you trying to validate it for a correct answer or the fact they put something in the TE field that would be considered correct?
The latter I think. Using the above example, if the learner types her/his age plus their friend's age is 22, the quiz can tell if it is correct or not because SL added the ages and stored that in a variable that we can make the proper answer. The question is how.

rough example - see if this works for you. The validate age text box and DE field would be offstage - they are just onstage now for testing.
