Edit an existing trigger interaction

Jun 09, 2014

Hi, is there a way to edit the quiz Interaction: "Multiple Choise"? I would like to still submit the answer choice but without jumping to the next slide. Thank you in advance. I hope there is a way.

Hi Sophia,

Sure - you'll want to look at the triggers that currently exist on your feedback layers, as that's where the user is "jumped to the next slide" - but if you remove them, and return the user back to the quiz question you'll need to consider how you want to advance them forward as the submit button will still be the only visible button. Maybe you want to show a custom button on the slide itself after the user answers?

Thank you for your response, Ashley!!! I deleted the feedback layers and also the feedback master slides except the blank slide and added custom buttons to jump to the next/prev slide. Still, my custom submit button makes me jump to the next slide. I put the project file below. Could I kindly ask you to take a peek at my project? Its an exam prototype with 2 blocks with 3 questions each and a 10min break, so far.

Apart from the submit button, maybe you can help me with another issue. I like to add a 15min timer for each of the two question bank draws (for each of the two 3 question blocks). I couldn't do it so far :-( I could add one timer that starts with the first question in block 1 and ends with the last question of block 2. Is there a way around that issue?

Thanks in advance! Hope you have an idea to solve it.

Hi Sophia,

I may not be understanding what you'd like to set up - the submit button will submit your interaction and either show the feedback layers (which you've removed) or allow you to continue to the next question. How would you like the user to proceed after answering the question?

There is not currently a way around the quiz timer issue using one results slide - but you may want to look at some custom timers other users have implemented. Here are some discussions and examples that may help:

Here's How Easy It Is to Add a Time Limit to Your Storyline Quiz

storyline slide timer - E-Learning Heroes

Timer or count down that controls feedback? - E-Learning Heroes

Timer to use in Storyline - E-Learning Heroes - Articulate

Free Storyline file: pre-built, user-defined timer - E-Learning Heroes (not quite the same - but still pretty cool)
