Edit/Cancel 10-minute updates

Apr 29, 2014

Hello - I have a storyline quiz, 25 questions long, tracked via AICC info. It is published in our LMS (PeopleSoft ELM) through which learners are limited to 3 attempts at the quiz (I do not allow retying from within the quiz module). Each time the learners attempt the quiz, the LMS charges them for an attempt until they have exhausted all three attempts.

I am running into an issue in which the Storyline module is sending (what I assume is AICC data) every10 minutes. LMS analysis of the record shows data being captured/updated repeatedly like clockwork at 10-minute intervals. The LMS is not wired to capture that info, so it is clearly being transmitted by the Storyline quiz.

When this happens, our LMS interprets that as an attempt. So if a student takes over 30 minutes to complete the quiz *once*, they are charged for all 3 attempts.

I've seen no controls regarding this function in the Storyline interface; am I missing something? Otherwise, I have dug around a bit in the config and AICC files in the published folders. I am finding reference to 60000 microseconds, and some formulas that generate 60000 as a result, but editing those in the zip file appears not to be making a difference. I assume there is somewhere deeper in the code I need to look, but I am outside of my skills on this.

Is there any way to edit this function so I can either regulate it or turn it off?

Hi Kirk and welcome to the community!

First, we cannot support the modification of published output files. However, I did find a discussion that may help you out.

While the initial question posed on the thread isn't really on-topic, there are some additional comments on the LMSCommit function and its timing that may help you. If not, it would certainly be a great place to ask for some assistance from the experts.

Here's the thread:

Manually invoke LMSCommit() on slide load with JS?
