If I build software training in Articulate Storyline 2 (SL), I use the screen recorder to create a simulation, which then creates step-by-step slides for me.
Because that screen recording is a moment in time, it obviously records what the software looked like/did at that time. If the software changes - say, a drop down menu has another option, or an icon changes - how do I change the image in the SL screencast so that the simulated software in the training course looks the same as the actual software, without re-recording ? I can't seem to be able to 'pick up' the image on one of the step-by-step slides and replace it with another.
Hi, Bridie -- Thanks for reaching out with your question, and forgive me if I am unclear on what you'd like to accomplish, but I am not currently aware of a way to edit or replaces images within a screen recording. You may want to check out the ideas offered over here in what seems to be a similar thread, and let us know if that is what you had in mind. Otherwise, here is some general info on Editing Screen Recordings that you may want to check out. :)
As long as the software stays relatively relatively static during the sim, you could probably take a screenshot and drop it in over the screen recording on a new layer, and edit that images appearance/disappearance on the timeline.
