Is there a way to edit the built in buttons in StoryLine? Currently, the built-in buttons have a rounded corner. I need to make them square. I know I could create my own buttons from scratch, but I already have a lot of pages where I used buttons and now I need to change them.
I have asked whether it will be possible to have access to a "library" of built-ins such as this - so that I can use them as custom buttons in other places on the player.
I think the best way is to create a library yourself, which is a pain but seems the only solution.
[Update--ignore this and go right to Tom's post below. Nice to know Storyline is so flexible but Tom's way is really slick.]
I was playing around with this and there looks to be at least one workaround way to do a square button.
YMMV but it's not that hard to do. Once you create one, you can obviously copy and paste it a soften as you need it.
1. Add a new button and make it a Check Box (style 3).
2. Change the colors for your button using the Check options.
3. After "coloring" your button, it will still have a Selected state that includes the checkmark that you cannot completely get rid of (at least I wasn't able to do it).
4. To get rid of the checkmark that appears when clicked, edit the states of the checkmark box. Delete the Selected State that includes the checkmark.
If you then need a Selected State that is different from the other states, you can copy one of the remaining checkmark boxes and make it the new Selected State. However, the checkmark will reappear--looks like it is permanently etched to the Selected State.
Instead, you'll need to create a new state--call it something like Selected-New. Then color and fashion it as you want and add a trigger to set the checkmark to this state when clicked.
The one drawback to this (forgot to mention this) is that I've not found a way yet to alter the checkbox's size. Looks like the size it comes in as is what you get. So creating your custom square shape and then states to that may often be the best way to go as Bruce mentioned.
This is great but the problem I have is that I want buttons with the icons as well. Is there any way to attach one of the icon sets to a custom button?
The icons that are available as a part of the button formatting are not included within the shapes in other places. It would be a great feature request to be able to access them outside of just the buttons though.
Absolutely - you'll then want to set up a method such as the one here (article is SL2 - but the same principles apply in SL1) to submit the quiz question at a later time - or based on another element happening on that slide.

Not that I know of.

Work for you?

Here's a quick screenr that may offer a few ideas:
Cool, Tom! Keep forgetting about using format painter with custom shapes to quickly clone states. Fantastic feature.
Love Tom's tutorials.... he always reminds me of the power and flexibility of Storyline. Thanks Tom!

Does anyone know if I can move the Submit button for quiz questions? I don't want the Storyline "shell" to display in my project...
