Ashley, what you actually are referring to, if I'm understanding correctly, is the Invalid Answer message. I think if you read through this thread, you'll see how this can be modified, although it IS a bit of work.
Michael, you're correct that the text for this message can be changed by clicking the Player button (on the Home tab, Publish Group). When the Player Properties dialog box opens, click Text Labels (on the Features tab, custom group) and scroll down to Items 16 and 17. The text can be changed in the custom text column.
And, if you'd like to Articulate to change on the Invalid Answer layer works..e.g., have it work like the Correct and Incorrect layers, please submit a feature request, as I have done.

How I understand it is there are 2 panels not avaiable for editing. One being the resume panel and the no answer picked panel.
You can however edit the actual text (accessed via the player options panel), but I am unaware if you can style it.
