Editing fill in the blank quiz review slides in Storyline 2.0

Oct 19, 2015

Hi Heroes and staff,

I have looked at every tutorial I could find and they only offer information on general editing of the look and feel of all of the quiz review slides, or just describe quizmaker or earlier versions of Storyline.

For Storyline 2.0 - how do you edit quiz review slides individually? As you see from the attached, the slide has some white text on it that I want to change just on this slide. (Not the master).

I have gone to Masters, to the result slide - everywhere, but can't find out how to get to a particular quiz review slide to edit it. Where is it hiding?

Help!

Thanks, but actually Leslie, in that link they explained how to turn off the correct/incorrect feedback, but I don't want to turn it off. Everyone on that link complained that they couldn't find out how to change the font colour on the quiz feedback slide. It appears to be an unanswered question.

That is my problem as well. The text is white on a white page, so I can't make it show up. There wasn't an answer on that link you provided.

Could you please explain how to change the font colour on a quiz review slide? I only want to move the text and change its colour - not change the whole background. How do I do this?

(See image on first post)

Thank you!

HI Victoria,

Thanks for sharing some additional information here. The review layer is one that isn't immediately visible or customizable as you'll see mentioned in that thread. (Something folks have shared their thoughts on in the form of a feature request, especially with the "incorrect/correct" bar at the bottom).

As for the fill in the blank answers showing as white - did you test out the steps Rebecca mentioned in the linked thread?

A workaround:

Edit the Fill in the Blank Review Text

  1. Click Edit ... in the Question pane on the right.
  2. In the Set Feedback and Branching section near the bottom of the window, type the feedback text in the Post-Quiz Review box (e.g., for this example, "the correct answer is in two weeks").

Edit the Feedback Master

  1. View > Feedback Master
  2. Click on the Review Feedback Layout on the left
  3. You can reposition the Placeholder on this slide if you need to. And you can change the fill color, outline color, and font color, size, etc.
  4. View >Normal

You'll see that you now have a review layer with your customized placeholder. By the way, the first time I ran through this, the only customization that worked was the repositioning. Then I went back in and the color and font changes were working.

If you're still having difficulty with this set up, can you share one of your fill in the blank slides so that we could see if there is anything else that could be impacting this color?  You can attach the file here using the "add attachment" button at the bottom of the reply window.

Hi Victoria!

Have you applied the layout to the layers?

Here's how to apply different layouts to existing feedback layers in your course:

  1. In Slide View, go to the question slide you want to edit.
  2. Select one of the feedback layers (Correct, Incorrect, Review, etc.) in the SlideLayers panel in the lower right corner.
  3. Then do any of the following:
    • Go to the Home tab on the ribbon, click Layout, and select the layout you want to use.
    • Right-click anywhere on the slide workspace, scroll to Layout, and click the layout you want to use.
    • Right-click the slide thumbnail in the left panel, scroll to Layout, and click the layout you want to use.

This information can be found in this tutorial.

Oh Hurray! It worked!

I recreated the slides using the instructions above (and Wendy's on another question) and it worked.

I think what messed everything up was putting feedback in the Post-quiz review panel in the Form View of the question (under Set feedback and branching). That seemed to keep the green ticks and CORRECT and INCORRECT bars from coming up - for some reason??

Thank you Ashley and Leslie!!!
