You can edit the masters - but there is only one default set up for all quiz questions. You won't be able to create a master that is automatically applied when you insert a multiple choice vs. a fill in the blank for example. You could create these masters and then apply them after you've inserted the questions though! For more information on working with slide masters, you'll want to take a look at the tutorials here.
If you go to look at the Slide master view - the set of initial layouts included with the Master clean slide includes a Question and a Question with media layout. You could also see them from within the set up of inserting a new slide:

But I don't see the quiz (and results) master slides anywhere. Are they in "View > Slide Master"?
