Editing video for step by step modes

Nov 02, 2018

Hi everyone,

I'm a brand new Storyline user--have been building courses in Lectora for about three years and I can't believe how much easier Storyline is to use!  It automates so many of the things I have to build manually in Lectora.  Anyway, I'm playing with the step-by-step modes and I have a question:  how can I edit my video (captions, hotspots) once and use that version of the video for the step-by-step modes?  It seems silly to have to make the same edits three times if I want to use View, Try, and Test modes.  What am I missing?  Thanks!

Hello, Amie!

Welcome to the community, and I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying Storyline!

It sounds like you want to customize the captions and hotspot placement in step-by-step slides, and you want those changes to automatically carry over to View Mode, Try Mode, and Test Mode scenes.

While there isn't a one-click method to copy those edits from one mode to another, I can certainly see how that would make life easier! I'll be sure to pass along your idea to our team.

In the meantime, I would suggest using copy/paste and the Format Painter to copy those customizations to each mode.
