Email address not displaying correctly in Outlook

Jun 30, 2014

Hi all, I have created some content that provides a number of links to different email addresses. On one of the links I can see the correct email address is displayed on the screen and the actual link address behind it has been typed in correctly, but when you run the content through the LMS and click the link, it opens a new email but only the first letter of the address is displayed. The email address is D&INetwork@companyaddress.org.uk (I've deliberately not typed the full company name here as I don't want the email address being used yet). So only the letter D shows in the email address box in Outlook 2010 when you click the link.

I know email links normally work for us, and I have another link to another email address within the same content that works fine. The only thing I can think of is that the ampersand is causing an issue, but I may be totally off the mark with this theory.

Has anyone come across any issues where email addresses aren't displayed correctly when linking from Storyline, or if an ampersand has caused any issues if used as part of the email address?

Thanks

Hi David,

I haven't heard of it - but the ampersand was my first thought too in regards to the issue you're experiencing. Another thought would be to test the course outside of your LMS in a web server or a system such as SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing SCORM Content. There are also a few free web server options in this article that you may want to try testing in as well.
