email links on iPhone not working

Aug 12, 2019

I have created a Storyline file that has a contact list at the end with email addresses hyperlinked to send an emails.

When clicking on the addresses on my desktop, the links work fine, opening up my email program.

When tapping on the same link on my iPhone, nothing happens. I've tried in several different browsers but I get the same result.

I've also tried using Hotspot with "send email to" actions to the email address but I get the same results. Fine on desktop, non-functional on phone.

Hey Charles,

Thank you for reaching out and I am sorry that you are running into a snag here with those hyperlinks. Could I have you try using the HTML5 output for mobile devices? You can accomplish this from the Publishing Menu and clicking on the format listed under the Properties menu:

From there, another prompt will appear and you will want to change that format to HTML 5:

We have a great resource that provides further details on this here

Please give that a whirl and let me know how that works out!

Thanks Vincent,

I am using the Modern player so my html5 gives me no options for the Articulate Mobile Player. I don’t really want to change my player as I like how the modern one looks.

Could it be that the Articulate Review site just doesn’t support email links on mobile? It works fine on desktop.

I published and tested a SCORM format and the email link works on my phone. It opens up an email link properly on desktop and phone.

Hey Charles,

Thank you for sharing those additional details! I am happy to hear that the links work when published to SCORM.

It is a bit odd that the links are not working on mobile for Review 360. With your permission, would you be willing to provide a Review 360 link for further troubleshooting?

Hi Vincent,

Here is the Review link.

The email link works fine on desktop, but not on mobile. I have tried it on iPhone, Chromebook and Android phone.

From what you wrote before, I would need to use the Classic player and activate the mobile player, but I don't really want to remake the Modern player if I don't need to.

Thanks, Chuck

Hey Chuck,

Apologies for the confusion on my part! I was just wanting to see if the course was published in htlm5 format.

Thank you for providing that Review 360 link! I really appreciate it. I will provide any updates I find when trying to access those email links on mobile.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions in the meantime!

Hey Chuck,

I tested the Review 360 link you shared and I am showing the same behavior on my mobile phone. I have notified our team about what is happening when trying to click on those email links using a mobile device and I appreciate you letting us know!

Once a bug is reported, here's how we tackle it. We're careful about testing new updates to make sure we don't put other features at risk, and I don't want to commit to a timeline before we have a fix finalized. You're in the right place, and we'll share as much as we can, as soon as we can!

If there is anything else that we can do to help in the meantime, please let us know!

Good morning.  I have all the current updates to A360 and the problem still exists.  It works fine on a PC but the email link does not work on an iPhone or iPad.  Our work force primarily uses the iPad to view training.  I have included a "Manually send an email to  . . . . . if the link does not work" for the time being.  This was discovered using Review.  Thanks for any updates or advice.
