Email to Trigger

Jun 28, 2013

Hi, I have created a menu course (using the bookshelf template) that lets learners access a series of other courses.

Within these extra courses i have inserted a trigger on some text that when clicked opens up Microsoft Outlook and inserts an email address in the To... field.

This trigger works fine when the courses are published and accessed individually, however when you access them from the menu course first this trigger closes the course down and takes you back to the menu instead of opening Outlook.

I have attached an image of the trigger just incase there is anythnig wrong there.

Hopefully someone can help.

Thanks.

Shaun.

Hi Shaun! I thought some community users might pop in with some of their awesome ideas first.  Without seeing the actual behavior that you're experiencing, it's hard to diagnose.  I do know that e-mail triggers themselves can be tricky. Where is your menu course published?  Are you still following the publishing and sharing guidelines?

Hi Leslie, thanks for your reply. I believe everything is as it should be in terms of the trigger design and the publishing process as it all works fine on the individually published courses.

Its only when i access these published courses from the initial published menu course that this issue arises.

The menu course is published to a web server which is then accessed via a hyperlink in a group intranet library. The other courses are also published to the web server but they cannot be accessed individually.

I have looked through the other posts and i cant seem to find any other mentio of this kind of issue. I have just been told that we are running Storyline 1.2 so am waiting for our IT to upgrade us to 1.3. Hopefully this makes a difference.
