I am tying to email a zipped, published storyline project to a friend but no matter what I do in regards to accounts I send it to or from it keeps being blocked. This seems to be because it has an exe in it, which will happen for all published storyline projects.
Can anyone tell me how they are getting around this? I've thought of a dropbox, but emailing is easier.
You can rename the .zip file to any unknown extension (e.g. RNB) and inform the recipient that he needs to rename back to zip once he downloads the attachment.
That's what I used to do in previous version of Windows. Now I am using win 7 and 8 I haven't figured out hw to change the file name extension. if i type in file.rnb, it still states .zip in properties. Do yo uknow how to get around this?
Can you perhaps grab some screenshots of what is happening? The process works the same as it always has, at least with Win7. And I'm seeing the extension name change in the properties dialog box also (I replaced .zip with .abc).
Perhaps if you could display some screen shots the community could help out.
All sorted. It turns out that I had the 'hide extensions for known file types' checkbox ticked in folder options. This meant that changing the file name didn't effect the extension.
Tx for replying ... wouldn't have realized hiding the extensions would cause that to happen. It's been years since I've had anything hidden.
When I used to teach F-2-F Windows classes and get into these options, my mantra was always "show all, hide nothing." This was of course for individual users, not for a networked environment where IT needs to "contain" things.
As of now I have the free trial for your Storyline product and so far it is great! The only problem I have is that I have not been able to email the presentation I have created. When I try to email it a pop up comes up saying "either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please install or configure your mail client as the default mail client."
I am not trying to share this with a client just with a peer. Please let me know what steps I need to take in order to be able to email my presentation.

Hi James,

Let me know if this helps,
Alex
Thanks Alex,

It is unchecked now and working as it should.
Thanks for your help Alex and Rebecca.

I work in a fairly well contained environment and I think the motto is more "restrict access to all, hide everything".
