Embedded video not working on tablet (iPad / Android OS) browser with password protection (WEB Publishing)

Apr 25, 2016

Hi,

I'm not able to play embedded video on any iPad BROWSER while using Apache password protection. I'm not having any problems at all using other content types in the same environment.

Behabiour in Android devices is erratical, it works in some devices/browsers and video won't play in other ones.

Being video-based content, this affects Screen Recording too...
(We're trying with web publishing, se didn't try any other publishing format because we need working as web)

NOT WORKING:
1. When I add a video in the .story, iPad browser asks for password everytime the video slide loads.

See this link from your iPad browser:
http://projects.inserver.es/test/video

The first time, the browser will ask for pass (this works as expected):
user: test
pass: test

then try to load the second slide: browser will ask for password again. You can go next and prev, browser will ask for pass everytime. This doesn't work as expected.

WORKING:
2. When I remove video of the .story, then the iPad browser only ask for password when I first load the content (as usual). Streaming videos (i.e. vimeo) works as expected too.

See this link from your iPad browser:
http://projects.inserver.es/test/norec

or this one (vimeo):
http://projects.inserver.es/test/vimeo

The first time, the browser will ask for pass (this works as expected):
user: test
pass: test

You can go next and prev, no matter how many times you do, browser won't ask for password again.

---

You can see both .story files here: .story files
(sorry about Dropbox, i'm trying to attach both files but I can't)

Any thoughts? This is a serious issue for us.

Hi Leslie,

Apache security is just an easy way to grant password protection to a site. This is just a dev environment we use to test Articulate content in protected sites, but I think this will happen in other password protected sites.

If we remove video slides, content works as expected, it only asks for pass in first load.
