Embedded Video - Unable to access Video Tools/Options

Oct 02, 2019

Hi.  I'm working with embedded video from the internet (all YouTube videos I think) and would like to add the video controls and change it to load video on when the user clicks.  However, those options are greyed out and I have no idea why.  Any thoughts????  I also need to start one of the videos at 18 sec and have not been able to figure out that timing.  Any help you can provide for either issue would be appreciated.

I've attached a screen shot of my desk top, for reference.

Hi April,

Thank you for reaching out!

"Show Video Controls" option is not available when you're using a video from a website. However, you can add the video controls in a Youtube video by doing the steps on this tutorial.

Please note that if you would prefer to have the Storyline video control, you have to download the video and insert that file directly.

In addition, you will be able to automatically start your video at 18 sec mark by adding a special parameter.

  • Add a question mark (?) to the end of the URL followed by your parameters. If you add more than one parameter, separate them with ampersands (&).

Example: http://www.youtube.com/embed/video_id?autoplay=1&start=18 (wherein video ID is the 11-character alphanumeric string in the video's URL)

I hope this helps and let me know if you require further assistance on this.

Regards,

Khrystal
