Embedded Vimeo video clip enlarging with some browsers

Mar 24, 2016

Hi, I have a number of Vimeo hosted video clips added to Storyline 2 courses using embedded code as 'Video from website'.  The courses are published for LMS as Flash and HTML5 and hosted on Totara (a Moodle variant). The player is set to 'fill browser' and 'scale to fill'. For most learners the video clips play correctly regardless of any scaling etc. However I have a problem with learners on Window 7 laptops with IE9 browser. When the learner clicks play (and rolls over in the Flash version) the video iframe enlarges by about 20%. It appears to be happening in the flash  version based on the company build of the laptops.

Has anyone had similar display issues of Vimeo through Storyline. I have tried the same course on SCORMCloud and getting the same results.

Hi Mike B, I'll need to check with the client which flash version. As it's now the Easter break in the UK, (they have already gone home Thurs. evening) I'll have to get this information on Tuesday. At this stage I'm not sure if the issue is Vimeo, Storyline, SCORM LMS, the browser or flash or a combination of any of these.

UPDATE on Trevor's case for anyone who is following along here... Our engineer, Eloisa, shared the following:

"Thanks for contacting Articulate Support!

I tried this and the Vimeo clips do not enlarge when viewed on Win7 IE9.

May I ask you to try to embed just the Vimeo video on an iframe? Please try to view this on the client's machine on Windows7 IE9, and on Windows10 Firefox."

And it looks like she requested a URL from Trevor for additional testing, so I will continue to monitor the case and share further updates when possible. :)

The following message was sent to the case:

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying to this case. I was on holiday and then was running a number of tests on the client's computer.

- They were running Flash player 18
- I tried a html5 version only to see if it was a flash issue(HTML5 version would not load in IE9 - not surprised due to age of browser version)
- Vimeo in iFrame (no Storyline or LMS)

The strange thing is that the original issue has now completely gone from their company laptops. I tested on a number of laptops and all are now fine. I had seen the original issue and was able to reproduce it in new courses.

They are not aware of any technical changes being remotely pushed to the laptops by the IT dept.

So for the moment the client has agreed to close the matter, so you can close the case.
