Embedded Youtube video not working.
Jan 07, 2013
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why the embedded Youtube video I've put in my training session doesn't work when I publish the file for the Web. I'm using the publishing option of Web, and saving the folder locally on my hard drive, however when I go to video the story.html file, in both IE and Firefox, the embedded video doesn't appear. I am connected to the internet. However, from the Articulate file, and within Storyline itself, I can Preview the video and all the slides without any problems. This is something new that is happening since the most recent product update. I have also found that if I open an old project containing an embedded video, and re-publish it, the video in that presentation won't work either, though it worked fine before. Is there something else I need to update so that these videos will work again? And is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks for any help you can give on this.

Hi Stacey. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
The first thing I noticed is that you're viewing the content locally. You might want to try publishing the content and uploading it to a web server or LMS for testing. If you view the published content, it may not work properly due to some browser and Flash restrictions.
Here's some additional information:
Sounds good. Thanks, I'll give that a try.
I'm having the same problem with Articulate Rise. An embedded link works fine in preview, but does not display when published.
Yes, I realize I am a bit late to the discussion.

Hi Lauren, I'm also having issues with embedding videos in Rise. I'm using the following:
Microsoft videos: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/videoplayer/embed/RWebsp?pid=ocpVideo0-innerdiv-oneplayer&postJsllMsg=true&maskLevel=20&market=en-us
Multimedia block - Embed option
I haven't published it yet but it won't display in the preview mode. All I see is a picture, see attached.
Hi Francesca,
Thank you for reaching out!
I embedded the link provided into a Rise 360 course and I am showing the same results. It looks like that URL wants to navigate to a new tab. Another option to embed that video into your course is to use an iframe code.
As an example, you can copy/paste this snippet to embed that video into your Rise course:
<iframe src=https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/videoplayer/embed/RWebsp?pid=ocpVideo0-innerdiv-oneplayer&postJsllMsg=true&maskLevel=20&market=en-us"></iframe>
We have a great resource that provides more details on this here:
