Embedded YouTube video only plays for two seconds and then disappears! Please help!

Jul 12, 2016

Hi all,

I've been trouble shooting this all day. I've followed the instructions in the tutorial, youtube address/embed/videocode....and it links to it but then only plays for two seconds. I thought maybe it was because my youtube video was private so I changed that and then re entered the link into my project, but am still getting the same result. Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong???

After publishing, are you testing the content locally (on your harddrive)?. In that case the video may be blocked by your browser's security settings (which again, doesn't explain why it plays at all). Try uploading the published content to some server and test again. If it still doesn't work, you can always share the link to the video here and someone will try it from their end.

Hi Nicole,

Welcome to Heroes! As Michael explained, Youtube videos must be added as a Web Object in Storyline 2. To verify, is this the tutorial you were using? You'll want to make sure to follow all the steps laid out there for your Youtube videos to work properly.

If you've followed those steps and are still having this problem, I'de like to know a little more info. Are you seeing this issue when previewing the course or just while viewing it after it's published? Web objects are unavailable during preview, so if you're seeing this issue while testing the published file, please make sure that you're testing your file in its intended environment. For instance, if you're publishing for the web you'll want to make sure you're uploading it to a web environment to view it. If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
