I am working in Storyline 3 and embedding a youtube video. I am inserting the ?rel=0 after the URL (that is a zero I am typing in). I am still getting the suggested videos displayed at the end.
Has this changed? I know this used to work to suppress the suggested videos after the embedded video.
Thank you Alyssa. I am trying to figure out if there is some sort of trigger I can put in to end or move to the next slide once the video completes. But, it doesn't look like there is anything I can tie the trigger to because once they go out to Youtube Storyline doesn't know when the video completes because it's not considered media.
If anyone has any other thoughts I'd love to hear them. The video on youtube is 50 minutes+ so I don't want to insert the video as media. (I do have access to the video file.)
I am not sure if it is compliant with YouTube permissions - I have placed a transparent shape over the YouTube video so the user cannot select any YouTube controls or further videos
it does not prevent them showing though 😔
the shape is delayed to “appear” after 10 seconds to allow the user to start the embedded YouTube video
Picking up on Alyssa's post, if you have more than 1 video on your channel, at least you won't be served any random content from unknown sources, i.e. it will only display your own videos as recommendations.
Using JavaScript is a great idea. I'm sure YouTube has an API that could tell you when the video reaches the end via JavaScript. Has anyone figured out how to use this to auto-advance to the next slide?

Hi, Diane!
It looks like YouTube now doesn't have a way to disable the recommended videos. The
rel=0
parameter stopped working back in September 2018: https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parametersNow, if the
rel
parameter is set to0
, related videos will come from the same channel as the video that was just played.Thank you Alyssa. Best case is I think you have to write a custom JavaScript widget.
Host the video on Vimeo. It gives you control on what happens at the end of the video.

I figured out how to move to the next slide when a YouTube video ends. See this demo: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/c0db799e-4921-4dbc-8fa4-00c38edbb76b/review Story file is attached.
Will,
That's a great solution.
great solution
would you consider posting a step-by-step tutorial of your story?
I, and I would guess many others, would appreciate trying to build my own slide based on your demo
It’s better to understand the steps rather than simply “cut and paste” 😊

Great solution, Will. ¿Is there any chance to make this with Vimeo videos?
Thanks in advance.
Hello Luis,
Take a look at this sample project. I have included both, the WebObject and the Storyline 360 project file.
