When I create a SL course that has a visible menu or a resource available for download, I am prompted whenever I view a published course in IE to install Active X control.
Does anyone know if this will happen once a published course is uploaded to our LMS?
It sounds like you're viewing the published project locally. This is one of a few messages/errors that you'll encounter if you view published output files on your local hard drive. Users shouldn't see this type of message when they view the content from the LMS.
Here's more information:
If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
