By default the essay question will check that the user entered something when they go to submit if you have it set up to require the user to answer it - check within the edit question button for that option:

Depending on when you want this trigger to work - you could use the "when the control loses focus" set up, and this would be dependent on the user clicking out of the text entry or pressing a key like the enter key to "lose focus".

What I want to do is to add a trigger text is entered in the field.
For example: when someone has entered text a motivational picture will appear. Or I want to launch a trigger.
