Engage 09 imported to Storyline - making it mandatory

Jun 20, 2014

Greetings Heroes, I'm in a pickle and need help. I have created a "process" Engage 09 interaction that is imported into a regulatory module. I need to know how to hide the "Next Slide" button until they have completed all 16 steps in the interaction. I don't know how to send a "Next Slide" command to Storyline from the Engage, or I would put a hyperlink in the summary, any ideas on how best to do this? I have to get this finished today. Thanks!!!

Hi Alan,

Welcome to the community!

I'm afraid it's not possible to require Engage '09 completion within a Storyline file. Though you can import, you can't control Storyline from the Engage interaction or vise versa.

However, you could modify the way the Engage interaction advances and set the timeline in the Storyline slide to roughly the same amount of time. For example, you could show the next slide button once all parts of the Engage interaction have completed. You'll notice that these are specific to within Engage, and because it will be inserted into Storyline as a web object, the navigation is then controlled by Storyline.

For the Storyline slide, you could create a True/False variable. I would recommend having the value adjust from "False" to "True" when the timeline of the slide ends - note this is after setting the timeline to roughly the amount of time it takes a user to complete the interaction - and have the "Next" button for the Storyline slide only advance on the condition that the variable is equal to "True".

If you haven't worked with variables or triggers before, here are some tutorials that may help:
