Engage Interaction in Storyline does not show previous edits

Jul 10, 2014

Hi,
I successfully imported an Engage interaction into my Storyline project and was able to edit it and preview and publish successfully. However when trying to do subsequent edits in Storyline the Engage interaction is still in its original state. When previewing and publishing the project the earlier edits are shown.

Anybody else experienced a similar problem?

Hi Kevin,

This is for an Engage '09 interaction, correct?

If you update the Engage interaction outside of Storyline, you'll want to re-import that interaction into Storyline.

You'll also want to confirm that you're working with local files for both Storyline and Engage:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you've removed the old interaction and inserted the new version, but you still don't see the updates, please zip both the .intr and the .story files, then share the file here. We'd be happy to take a look. Please keep in mind, however, that the file max for the forums is currently 20 MB. If your file is larger than this, or if you need to keep the project private, please let me know. We can discuss other options for sharing the file.

Best,

Christine

Hi Christine,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes it is Engage 09. It could be that the problem lies with the drive the project files are stored on, as I use our Network Drive. I'll move the file to the C Drive and take it from there.

Just one other issue. When I enter a word or topic in the search box I get the result "Not items matching your search were found".

Is there currently a problem with the Search engine?

Hi Kevin,

That sounds good :) Just let us know if you try that out and still have trouble.

As for the search feature on the forums, it could definitely use a helping hand - we're hoping that the next version of the forums will have a more user-friendly search feature.

In the meantime, however, I personally recommend using Google instead. If you use a specific string "site:nameofdomain.com", you can narrow the search results for a specific domain. For example, you could search for "Storyline Video Best Practices site:community.articulate.com". Using that search, you'll actually see a lot of pretty helpful threads.

Also, one of our senior support engineers recently created Articusearch.com for our community. I highly recommend using this for searching, especially if you're not completely comfortable with using the above suggestion. This will save you some time and ensure that you're seeing the best results from the community site.

I hope that helps!

Christine
